Summercourt Farm, previously known as Wagon Wheels, is situated on the slopes of the picturesque Simonsberg Mountain, in the Banhoek Valley. This beautiful farm is also where our Le Pommier, Limited edition ‘Summercourt Chardonnay’ is grown.
Banghoek they wine region was originally known as ‘De Bange Hoek’ which is how it was indicated on a transport map of Zeven Rivieren in the year 1704. Not only was it dangerously steep, but there were gangs, escaped slaves, lions, leopards and other wild animals in the dense forest area. Today it is home to many well-known wine estates like Zorgvliet, Tokara, Delaire and Rainbow’s End.
Our Summercourt Chardonnay vineyards are carefully nurtured and monitored until the grapes are in optimal condition for harvesting.
This Chardonnay is an elegant, slightly wooded medium-bodied wine with tropical fruit on the nose and a hint of minerality and a lingering finish. Enjoy this wine with all seafood, delicate white meats, and creamy pasta dishes. Because Le Pommier Summercourt Chardonnay is a fruity wine it will also pair extremely well with our authentic bobotie. For more www.lepommier.co.za
Chardonnay wine from South Africa is characterised by flavours of fruit, notably peach and citrus. There are also spicy and woody notes, mainly oak, due to the barrels Chardonnay wines are fermented in. This dry white wine is very easy to drink, with many consumers specifically enjoying the oak flavours.
Contact us today to order yours. The wine will be available from the farm as well as online.
